PET CARE PROTECTION PLAN

At The Bed & Biscuit, pets are family. Although it is uncommon for a dog to experience an injury or illness during lodging, exposure to new surroundings, group interactions, and changes in routine can occasionally result in unforeseen situations. For this reason, we offer our Pet Care Protection Plan, which provides limited financial reimbursement for qualifying veterinary care following your dog’s stay.

Cost

  • $5 flat fee per booking (one-time, regardless of the number of nights or pets).

  • Frequent Boarder Waiver: Once you’ve purchased $50 in coverage within the past 12 months, all additional bookings in that year automatically include the plan at no extra charge.

Coverage Limits

  • Up to $250 per incident

  • Not to exceed $1,000 per calendar year, per pet

Coverage Window

  • Illnesses or injuries that occur during boarding

  • Illnesses or injuries diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian within 5 days after departure

  • Contagious illnesses may be covered for up to 10 days post-departure

Eligible Expenses

Reimbursement applies to necessary diagnostic tests and treatments provided by a licensed veterinarian.

Exclusions

The plan does not cover:

  • Pre-existing or chronic conditions

  • Illnesses or injuries present before check-in

  • Age-related conditions (e.g., arthritis, organ failure)

  • Pets over a certain age (e.g., 12+ years) at the facility’s discretion

  • Aggression between pets from the same household or if owner requested pets be housed together

  • Illnesses related to expired/missing vaccinations

  • Leptospirosis or Canine Influenza (CIV) if the pet is not current on vaccination

  • Natural disasters or “Acts of God” (tornadoes, floods, etc.)

  • Cancer or cancer-related illness

How to File a Claim

  1. Notify The Bed & Biscuit of any illness or injury within 5 days of departure.

  2. Veterinarian exam required within this timeframe.

  3. Pay vet bills directly. The Bed & Biscuit does not pay veterinarians.

  4. Submit documents (vet invoice and diagnosis) within 14 days of departure via email, fax, or in person.

  5. Reimbursement issued within 10 business days after approval. A second veterinary opinion may be requested.

Additional Terms

  • This plan is the exclusive remedy for covered conditions; owners are responsible for expenses above plan limits.

  • The Bed & Biscuit reserves the right to exclude pets from the program at check-in based on health, age, or condition.

  • The program may be changed or discontinued at any time. If discontinued, coverage will apply for bookings made while fees were collected.

  • If any portion of this agreement is deemed unenforceable, the remainder still applies.
